Janet Igohia, 31, was arrested on January 25, 2024, while allegedly collecting a ransom of N1.5 million for a kidnapped individual in Taraba State. She disclosed during interrogation that she was the wife of the late Gana Terwase, a notorious gun runner, and was currently married to another notorious terrorist, Voryor Gata, who was second in command to Gana Terwase.
In a separate operation, troops also apprehended Joshua Dutse Idah, a notorious gun runner who supplied arms and ammunition to terrorist groups across the country. The spokesperson for the 6 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Jalingo confirmed the arrests, stating that a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and cash were recovered from the suspects.
Dutse was arrested on January 20, 2024, in Ibi town of Ibi LGA while driving to Kaduna State. He confessed to intending to bring AK-47 rifles to Katsina State and was found in possession of a PK machine gun, ammunition, and AK-47 rifle magazines.
Additionally, on January 25, 2024, troops arrested Janet Igohia for picking up a ransom payment of N1.5 million in Chanchanji. She revealed her current marriage to Voryor Gata, a violent extremist group leader in southern Taraba, and her previous marriages to notorious criminals, including Gana Terwase.
Furthermore, two suspected gunrunners involved in extra-judicial killings and cattle rustling were apprehended in Mararaba Baissa community, Donga Local Government Area. The suspects, Alhaji Adamu Damisa, and Usman Isah, were found with proceeds from illegal activities and mobile phones.
