Akwa Ibom Govt Approves Additional N1.4bn For Gratuities Payment

In fulfilment of his campaign promise, the Akwa Ibom Governor, Umo Eno, has authorised the immediate release of N1.4bn for further payment of gratuities.

In a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ekerete Udoh, it was disclosed that a total of N900 million was allocated for retired state civil servants, while N500 million was earmarked for retired primary school teachers.

The statement highlighted that the release of the additional N1.4 billion brings the total amount of gratuities paid under the tenure of Governor Umo Eno, ten months after his inauguration, to N16.1 billion. It emphasized the governor’s commitment to consistently releasing funds for gratuity payments, underscoring his people-centric approach to governance.While acknowledging that gratuities are entitlements, the statement commended Governor Umo Eno’s courage in prioritizing the welfare of retirees and ensuring the fulfillment of their entitlements.
