Onanuga stated this on Wednesday in a short statement issued on X, claiming that it would be the first time in ten years that a Nigerian President has paid such homage to soldiers who died in service.

It appears that President Bola Tinubu is set to attend the burial ceremony of 17 military personnel who were tragically killed in Delta State. Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, has confirmed this, emphasizing that it marks the first time in a decade that a Nigerian President will be present at such an event to honor fallen soldiers.

President Tinubu himself had expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased soldiers and pledged that their sacrifices would not be forgotten. He emphasized the importance of recognizing the bravery and valor of these fallen heroes and ensuring they receive a fitting burial and national honors.

Tinubu also urged for unity and peace, emphasizing the need to avoid retaliatory actions and instead focus on honoring the memory of those who lost their lives in service to Nigeria.
