Nigerian Police Detain Ex-Governor Yahaya Bello’s Security Details For Aiding Escape

The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended a female police officer who previously served as the aide-de-camp (ADC) for former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello, along with other security personnel, on allegations of facilitating his evasion from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja.The ADC, alongside other police officers assigned to 48-year-old Bello, is presently detained at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Their apprehension and subsequent detention followed an order issued by the Inspector General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, on Thursday night, mandating their immediate removal from the former governor’s vicinity.Sources within the police department, speaking anonymously to PUNCH due to the sensitivity of the matter, disclosed that the officers are suspected of aiding Bello’s escape from EFCC operatives who had attempted to arrest him at his Abuja residence on Wednesday.
