Nigerian Soldier, Sani Yahaya, Attacks Colleague with Dagger in Enugu Incident

According to military sources, the incident occurred on Monday night in Enugu metropolis.

Private Yahaya Sani, serving with the 74 Supply and Transportation Brigade of the 82nd (Airborne and Amphibious) Division, Nigerian Army, reportedly stabbed his fellow soldier, Private Aliyu Musa, following an accusation involving theft. The incident unfolded on a Monday night in Enugu city.

Military insiders reported that the altercation occurred when Private Musa alleged that his phone was missing and suspected Private Sani, who had been with him shortly before the phone’s disappearance. The confrontation escalated while they were returning from the New Artisan area of Enugu.The sequence of events detailed by one military source highlighted that “Private Musa accused Private Sani of taking his phone during their transit. An argument ensued which turned physical, leading to Sani disarming Musa and subsequently stabbing him in the head with a dagger.”

Private Musa is currently receiving medical care at the 82 Division Military Hospital, while Private Sani has been detained at the 82 Division Garrison’s guard room pending further investigations.This stabbing incident occurred shortly after another distressing incident involving a soldier from the same division, where Private Mohammed Adamu fatally stabbed a pregnant woman, Miss Hauwakulu Tabra.The Nigerian Army has acknowledged these incidents, with Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, providing statements on the matter. The Army has confirmed that it has incorporated members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) to aid in counterterrorism efforts, particularly highlighting their patriotic and moral conduct during the ongoing conflicts in the North East.
