The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Reform Vanguard has raised concerns regarding the party’s integrity and called for the immediate resignation of Ambassador Iliya Damagun, the Acting Chairman of the party. The group staged a demonstration at the PDP headquarters in Abuja prior to the National Economic Council meeting scheduled for the day.

Additionally, the group urged the National Economic Council (NEC) to take disciplinary action against Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), for purported anti-party activities. They implored NEC members to exhibit the courage necessary to make tough decisions aimed at revitalizing the party.
Usman Seidu, the convener of the PDP reform, expressed concerns that individuals like Damagun and Wike have undermined the party’s collective efforts and jeopardized its existence as a formidable opposition force. He emphasized that their continuous presence poses a significant threat to the party’s survival and risks alienating loyal members nationwide.

The group commended former National Chairman Dr. Iyorchia Ayu for his loyalty and commitment to the party, particularly for withdrawing all pending suits against the party in court. They stated that Ayu’s actions have created an opportunity for the party to move forward and restore integrity to its leadership. However, the group emphasized the urgent need to address the presence of Damagun and Wike within the party, describing their actions as tantamount to betrayal. They called for Damagun’s removal from his position as Acting National Chairman in accordance with the party’s constitution, advocating for a replacement who embodies the party’s values and will work diligently for its advancement.
“The continuous presence of individuals like Damagun and Wike is not just detrimental to our progress; it is a clear and present danger to the very survival of our party. If the party fail to take decisive action against those who have betrayed our trust, then it risk losing the faith and support of it’s loyal members across the country.”
